One of the freshest names in dance music, Grecian DJ and producer YERO drops by to tell all on his debut single ‘Wonderful Life’ (Kryder’s Guilty Pleasure Mix) and Tomorrowland Festival debut in Boom, Belgium.
1.Hi YERO, congratulations on your debut single ‘Wonderful Life’ with Christian Burns and Kryder. How does it feel to finally share the track with the world?
Thank you so much! The goal was to “paint” this summer with Wonderful Life’s positive sounds and meaning. Spreading music is a magical connection between people so we are more than excited that the track is finally out!
2. What are the things in life that make you feel ‘it’s a wonderful life?’
Good question! For me, the sun, the love from my circle of friends, a tasty quinoa salad, a great party, a basketball game!
3.Tomorrowland was another huge debut for you this summer! How was the experience?
My debut at Tomorrowland was some how even better than I had expected! I played the Melodia stage which is a really cool stage filled with really nice crowd and great dance energy and i really enjoyed my set. The whole experience was one I’ll never forget. I want to do it all over again!
4. Are there any other venues or festivals across the world that are on your bucketlist as a DJ?
Right away, I can think of LIV and Space in Miami, Hï ibiza, Savaya in Bali and as for festivals, EDC Las Vegas is on the list for sure. In general, I would love to visit and play at the best club in every country.
5. If you could go back-to-back with any DJ in the world, who would you choose?
I’d have to say the following DJs; Steve Angello, Mau P or Dom Dolla. Going B2B with any of these guys would be epic!
6. As someone who has DJ’d from a young age, what would your advice be to someone who is just starting out?
Practice and learn the basics of DJing really well so you have a solid foundation. Get inspired by other DJs but never try to copy them, it’s important to find your own style. Figure out what you like and make your own signature style and sound in your sets. You want to love the music you play afterall.
7. You’re incredibly active in your home nightlife scene of Greece. What are your thoughts on the scene there overall? Any club or DJ reccomendations?
Over the past few years our local electronic scene has really been on the rise, especially in Afro House snd even harder styles. Even though it’s a bit tough ,as Greece has a very strong Greek music scene, locals are getting more and more educated in electronic music plus we have lots of tourists travelling to Athens or the islands in summer so throughout the year we manage to have some very cool shows across the country in some amazing venues/places.
8. Where do you hope to see the YERO project in 5 years time? Any specific goals?
Well by then I would love to reach 40-50 releases because main target is to spread as much music as possible and of course make the most special events!
YERO feat. Christian Burns ‘Wonderful Life’ (Kryder’s Guilty Pleasure Mix) is out now on Kryteria Records.
