UK-based DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Lawrence Hart announces his long-awaited debut album ‘Come In Out of the Rain’, out on 4th April 2025, heralded by upbeat emotional single ‘Closer To You on Domino’s Double Six imprint.

Hart’s style expresses his science-savvy tech skills with emotion-evoking vibes and dancefloor fuel, creating a sound both club-ready and perfect for immersing yourself in: ‘A big thing for me on this record is balancing the more mechanical and technical side of my music with the heart and euphoria.’

The 12-track album ‘Come In Out Of The Rain’ is an ‘emotional garage record, euphoric and therapeutic,’ says Hart. It journeys through cinematic melancholia, soaring synths and moments of fragility peppered with forgotten vocal samples. Alongside nine new tracks, it includes his 2024 Double Six singles ‘NoMoreLuv4U’, ‘Hear Ur Heartbeat’ and ‘Just Belong’, which won tastemaker support inc. Sian Eleri, Lauren Laverne, Danny Howard, Jess Iszatt, Jaguar, Jack Saunders, Floating Points on NTS (additional Double Six single ‘Trust’), Rinse, DMY, Mixmag’s Top Tracks of 2024 plus heavy playlist uptake inc. a Spotify Altar cover and Amazon Signals slots.

Single ‘Closer To You’: A pitch-shifted vocal sample plays with words over a layer of euphoric heart-tugging synth chords rising in pitch and prominence, joined by the breaksy, lively percussion, together creating an upbeat dance track with a tinge of melancholy, expressing the full range of emotion suggested by the title.

Tech wizard Hart, who has science DNA from his renowned computer pioneer grandfather, Geoff Tootill, trained as a classical musician as a child.  At fifteen, he had auditions at some of New York’s most prestigious music schools, going on to study jazz trumpet at SUNY Purchase with famous exponents, playing on the stages of some of New York’s most esteemed jazz clubs alongside greats like Bob Mover (a previous collaborator of Charlie Mingus and Chet Baker). Soon Hart discovered electronic music and clubbing and inspiration hit.

He began developing his production skills while working with fellow Double Six/Domino artist George FitzGerald, who he has a long-standing music relationship with. To date, Hart has also released solo singles, EPs and remixes on Hotflush, Attack Decay Sweet Release, LG105, & his own SSEM label.

‘For a long time, I’d worked on music because I didn’t know how to be in the world. This album is about acceptance and opening myself up’, says Hart. ‘I started the Lawrence Hart moniker as I wanted to make music to bring people together on the dancefloor and build that sense of community and togetherness.’

In that spirit, Hart has been throwing a series of free community parties across London, joined by artists/friends lau.ra, BBC Radio 1’s Jess Iszatt, Guilia TessOtus, Mera Bhai & Millie Cotton. More of these TBA…
