EDM Cave - Hellänelli Brings Peak-Time Tech House Heat with New Single "Mehujää"

Finnish producer Hellänelli continues her upward trajectory with ‘Mehujää’, a driving new tech house release that’s out now via Helsinki label Youth Control.

Built around the tongue-in-cheek Finnish vocal “on niin kuuma, että mun mehujää sulaa” (“it’s so hot that my popsicle is melting”), the track trades big melodic moments for pure dancefloor hypnosis. A tightly wound bassline, crisp drums and looping vocal snippets create a groove that builds through repetition, keeping the pressure on from start to finish. It’s the kind of understated, peak-time tool that lets DJs control the room without ever breaking the flow.

While Hellänelli’s previous Youth Control releases explored deeper and progressive house territory, ‘Mehujää’ pushes decisively into tougher tech house. The production remains restrained throughout, allowing subtle changes in rhythm and texture to drive the momentum rather than dramatic breakdowns or oversized drops.

The release follows a strong run for the Helsinki-based producer. Her previous single, Valmis, earned support from Anna Lunoe, Andi Durrant, YleX and Radio FG, while also landing coverage across dance music outlets including Data Transmission, Housenest and Music Is 4 Lovers. With ‘Mehujää’, she continues to refine a sound that’s equally suited to underground clubs and festival dancefloors.

Released as YOU060, the single is the latest addition to Youth Control’s catalogue. The Finnish independent label has built a reputation for championing homegrown electronic talent, with artists including Roisto, Disco Despair, Rony Rex, TJH87 and Cavego among its roster. Over the years, its releases have also found support from names such as Armand Van Helden, Steve Aoki and Todd Edwards, as well as BBC Radio 1, Billboard and Kiss FM.

With summer club season in full swing, ‘Mehujää’ delivers exactly what its title promises: a dose of heat. Minimal, infectious and built with peak-hour functionality in mind, it’s another confident statement from one of Finland’s most exciting emerging names in house music.
