Hi Alfiya Glow, how are you?

Hi! I’m doing great, thanks for asking. I’m excited to chat about my studio and creative process.

Can you tell us about your studio setup?

My studio is a blend of essential gear and personal touches that keep me inspired. I work primarily with my laptop, connected to an interface and two Yamaha monitors. I have a Casio piano keyboard, and I record my violin using a handmade mic from Sweden. There’s also a pair of studio headphones, five different types of violins, FX pedals, and a looper. It’s a cozy and functional space where creativity thrives.

What are some of the key pieces of equipment that you rely on?

My microphone and keyboard are crucial, especially for capturing live elements in my production. They help bring my ideas to life in a tangible way.

Do you have a favorite DAW? Has this changed since you first began producing?

I use Ableton for producing and Logic Pro X for recording live elements. This has definitely evolved over time—I actually started out with GarageBand!

What was the first piece of gear you invested in for your studio, and do you still use it today?

The first piece I bought was an old interface and a pair of passive speakers. I had no idea I needed an amplifier for them until someone pointed it out! I’ve since sold those and upgraded my setup, but they were a great starting point.

How have you set your studio up to ensure you remain inspired and creative?

I love having plants, crystals, and candles in my studio to keep the vibe cozy. My plush velvet chair and an electric mug for hot cacao add comfort. I believe in balancing the masculine energy of equipment with feminine elements because creativity, after all, is inherently feminine.

What’s the latest addition to your studio, and how has it influenced your production process?

I recently upgraded my FX pedal setup for my electric violin and added a looper. This has definitely added more diversity to my production. I also switched to a full 88-key keyboard from a 61-key one, which gives me much more creative freedom.

Your music blends classical violin with electronic elements. Can you walk us through your process for integrating your signature violin lines into your productions? Do you have any go-to techniques to ensure you achieve a high-quality sound?

Absolutely! Sometimes, I already have a melody in mind, but often, I need to improvise. I’ll loop a section of the track and play around until I find something that clicks. I also have a set bus chain with basic effects that help my violin sound its best when recording.

Are there any new pieces of equipment or software you’re excited to add to your studio soon?

Not at the moment, but I just moved into a bigger space, so I’m excited about the possibility of expanding my studio in the future.

Finally, do you have any stand-out memories of a time when you were working in the studio?

One memory that stands out is the first time I recorded a live violin session for one of my electronic tracks. I remember feeling this incredible mix of excitement and nerves because it was the first time I was blending two worlds I love—Classical and Electronic music. I spent hours improvising, letting the music flow through me, and when I finally played back the recording, it felt like everything clicked. Hearing how the violin’s raw emotion complemented the electronic beats was a magical moment. It was a reminder of why I do what I do, and that feeling has stayed with me ever since. It was a pivotal moment in my journey as an artist, affirming the path I’ve chosen to blend genres and create something uniquely my own.
