Boom Merchant

Boom Merchant is back on Tribal Pulse with his new techno EP, Transpacific

Boom Merchant’s new release, Transpacific is a strong close to what’s been a prolific year.

2025 has been nonstop for the Irish artist, who has shown consistency across his many releases. He has continued to establish his distinctive and unique style, which brings an innovative approach to techno that’s dark and driving.

Those familiar with Boom Merchant will instantly recognise the warping rhythms of his hypnotic percussion, which is often accompanied by the ominous mood of a thickset bassline.

He often uses distinctive melodies and samples to give his tracks a hook that’s easy to latch onto, ensuring that his music remains accessible not only to the underground, but also has appeal to more mainstream techno fans.

“Kamakura” for example has a rumbling bassline and deep pads, augmented by the captivating tones of a quirky Asian vocal sample. “Senso-Ji” combines a heavy four-to-the-floor groove with breakbeats and classic rave vocals.

“Shinbashi” is an understated track with a pumping groove led by a powerful kick drum, until the trippy breakdown changes the mood before the drums hit back in. “Different Routes Home” has a pop vocal combined with off-kilter percussion and lurching bass swells.

Each of the four tracks show a different section of Boom Merchant’s sound, and it’s a great way for him to bring 2025 to a close.
