Boom Merchant’s new techno EP, Suena Bien is a collection of tracks that cover a range of styles, and each of them have A-side qualities.
The release has tracks like “Sparkle” which has a gospel vocal layered over a driving techno groove in the style of Robert Hood and his Floorplan alias. Each track taps into something different, “Red Sun Dub” utilises a classic hard dance riff to create an in-your-face groove with a retro vibe.
This release is out on the Tribal Pulse record label that Boom Merchant runs as an uncompromising outlet for his own music. He has also signed music to other record labels including Black Square Recordings, Autektone Dark, and Gain Plus.
This is the kind of release where everyone will have their own favourite depending on their individual style. “Fourth Wind” is an understated track that’s ideal for hypnotic DJ sets, and the title track “Suena Bien” has a trippy sound with a descending melody.
Each track is a unique mix of influences, and has familiar elements that help them fit into a DJ set, while also having lead sounds that make them stand out. It’s the kind of release that can really break down a DJ set or help bridge styles in an eclectic performance that spans multiple genres.
