Dive into the Sound: Roman Angelos’ ‘Tropical Nites’ EP Featuring Ursula 1000 and More
Music Factory Records is thrilled to announce the release of “Tropical Nites: Ursula 1000 Remix,” the lead single from Roman Angelos’s latest EP, *Tropical Nites: Remixes and Lost Tracks*. This vibrant project showcases the talents of a remarkable ensemble, featuring composer Rich Bennett on guitar, Brittany Anjou on vibraphone, Ben Zwerin on bass, Spencer Cohen on drums, Dennis Boolyoins on percussion, Rose Rutledge on flute, Kai Sandoval on trumpet, Nadav Nirenberg on trombone, and Deidre Rodman-Struck on piano.
The upcoming EP boasts an impressive lineup of remixers, including the renowned Ursula 1000, Blake Madden of Hotels, and producer Scott Solter. Additionally, the rarities tracks feature special collaborations with pianist/synth player Frank LoCrasto (known for his work with Cass McCombs, Fruit Bats, and Okkervil River) and Brazilian vocalist Mari Rosa (of Limoncello fame).
Ursula 1000’s remix of “Tropical Nites” is a sonic escape, perfectly capturing the essence of a sun-kissed summer getaway. It opens with the soothing sounds of tropical bird calls and ambient nature, setting a serene mood before transitioning into a lively lounge/bossa house groove, enriched by female vocal samples and the rhythmic allure of steel drums. This remix seamlessly balances uplifting energy with a calming vibe, making it an ideal soundtrack for both dance floors and sophisticated cocktail gatherings.
Rich Bennett, the mastermind behind Roman Angelos, shares his excitement: “I’ve admired Ursula 1000’s work since the early 2000s. After completing the *Tropical Nites* LP, he was my top choice for a remix. I knew he could bring a fresh perspective that would resonate with a broader audience. The moment I heard the birds and ambient sounds in his remix, I realized we had a standout track.”
“Tropical Nites: Ursula 1000 Remix” will be available on vinyl in a limited run of just five lathe records, exclusively at live Roman Angelos shows this fall. Designed by UK artist MJ Langthorne, the exquisite sleeve is a must-have for vinyl enthusiasts or those looking to start their collection.
Roman Angelos, the artistic persona of Brooklyn-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Rich Bennett, draws inspiration from his passion for 60s and 70s library recordings, muzak, and exotica, creating a sound that is both exotic and nostalgic.
