Anthony Fonseca, under the new alias Fonseca 72, and Anton Bass – one half of Karmadelic – bring over two decades of collaborative prowess to this new, progressive tech remix of Mistier’s ‘Headspace’. The versatile electronic project, Mistier, unveiled the undeniably resonant ‘Headspace’ back in January, quickly followed by an impressive remix from respected house music authority OFFAIAH, which saw key radio support from Austin Kramer on Tomorrowland Radio, Liquid Todd on SiriusXM, and Armin van Buuren on his Dance Department show, among others. Both versions perfectly set the stage for this second and final alternative rendition of one of Mistier’s most essential releases to date. Anthony Fonseca, aka Fonseca 72, defies musical boundaries. Raised in Brooklyn, his musical output blends disco, indie pop, and soulful influences with roots in ’80s rock and heavy metal. From sound engineering in Miami to immersing himself in Tampa’s rave culture, influences like NIN and Daft Punk, saw him find synergy between rock and electronic music. A transition to DJing marked a turning point, leading to collaborations and releases in breakbeat and tech-house, while relocating to NYC expanded his horizons, catalysing diverse partnerships across genres. Fonseca 72’s musical evolution has seen him earn accolades like the BBC Awards Breakbeat Record of The Year for “Dime Dropper” in 2019. As a Burning Man resident DJ and founder of Family Funktion Records, he champions a fusion of disco and indie pop, promoting inclusivity and positivity in his musical endeavours.
Anton Bass, half of Karmadelic, made waves on the Billboard dance charts, signing with Jellybean Records in 2000. Partnering with Anthony Fonseca for Speakerbox led to acclaim and an International Dance Music Award nomination. As the A&R at Sea to Sun Recordings, Anton propelled hits like “Underlying Feeling” and “Push n Pull” to #1 on Billboard Dance Club Play. His diverse repertoire spans electro-pop singles for Traci Lords and trance collaborations with Andrew Rayel. With his hands-on production skills and commitment to innovation, Anton’s collaboration with Fonseca 72, embodies the transformative power of musical partnership, crafting immersive sonic experiences across genres and generations.
