Ilona Maras is back on Clif Jack’s MJA the Vision with new techno EP, “Boomerang”
Ilona Maras releases an exhilarating two-track techno release, “Boomerang,” which is in the style she has championed via the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave and Frankyeffe’s Riot Recordings.
Continuing to establish herself amongst Europe’s techno elite, Ilona Maras is a Zurich-based DJ and producer who is a leading light within Switzerland’s underground scene. When not playing elsewhere in Europe, she holds down a DJ residency at the Hive Club, which is one of Zurich’s most prestigious electronic music venues.
This release comes via MJA the Vision, which is a record label run by Clif Jack, and it’s an imprint that has consistently championed Ilona Maras. This is her second solo release, and both tracks pack one hell of a punch.
“Boomerang” has a pulsating bassline and zipping synths that burst forth with flashes of energy. Intense melody stabs and pounding drums add to the peak time groove of this powerful techno track.
“2 Left Shoes” is the deeper of the cuts, as it utilises deep chords that swell with intensity as the track unfolds. It’s an invigorating track that combines new-school flavour with old-school sounds.
