Clif Jack is an Italian artist, and Jil Tanner is from Germany. Both of them are making waves within the techno scene, and they have come together for a debut collaboration.
Vibe Hard is their new collaborative single, and it’s out now on Union Three, which is a record label run by Ramiro Lopez and Spartaque.
Individually, Clif Jack and Jil Tanner are both headline DJs who play regular shows across Europe, and their music has been featured on highly respected record labels.
We invited them for this joint interview so we could learn more about their new single, and the decision to collaborate.
Could each of you tell us about your background in music, and how you describe your sound?
Jil: “I grew up with old-school hip hop before getting hooked on electronic music — so my background is pretty diverse. My sound moves between melodic, progressive and powerful grooves, with that underground feel. “Vibe Hard” shows my techno side, which is rougher, raw, energetic, and a little trancey — it’s a vibe I really enjoy exploring on the dance floor.”
Clif: “I’ve always been drawn to minimal, dark and industrial sounds — that raw energy got me from day one. Over the years, my style evolved into something more powerful and emotional, blending driving techno with deep, atmospheric layers. I love creating moments of tension and release — moments that hit both body and mind. “Vibe Hard” is a perfect snapshot of my music style right now, as it’s energetic, dark, and made to move you.”
How did you guys first meet, and at what point did you decide to make some music together?
Clif: “I’ve always been a big fan of Jil’s music — I’ve played several of her tracks in my sets over the years, like “Secret Space,” “Analog Girl in a Digital World,” and “Off My Mind.” I’ve always loved her sound and artistic vision. Last year I reached out to her, and after a few chats she agreed to release her track “Bass Face” on my label, MJA the Vision. From that moment, a natural musical friendship started — and I have to say, beyond being a great artist, Jil is also a super positive person. Working and talking with her is always a pleasure. That’s why we decided to collaborate and make some tracks together — “Vibe Hard” is the first one, but we already have two more in progress.”
Your collaborative track “Vibe Hard” is out now on the Union Three record label run by Ramiro Lopez and Spartaque. How did you first make contact with the label?
Jil: “I’d been following the Union Three label for a while — they have a really strong and forward-thinking sound. Clif already had a good connection with them, so when we finished “Vibe Hard,” we sent it over to Ramiro Lopez and Spartaque. They loved it, and signed it right away — it felt like the perfect match for me and Clif.”
Tell us more about your track “Vibe Hard” and its concept?
Clif: “Our track, “Vibe Hard,” came together step by step. Jil brought her ideas and her voice, I brought my own creativity, and we kept going back and forth with the track until we felt it was perfect. Jil is based in Berlin and I live in Padua, but we were messaging each other non-stop, and the track came together effortlessly. We were both chasing the same vibe without forcing anything, then when we added her vocal to the groove, we both knew: “OK, this one hits.” It’s a track born from trust and good energy, and we are both verry pleases with the end result.”
It would be great to know more about the vocals used in Vibe Hard, and what inspired it?
Jil: “My vocals add a little push to the track’s energy. They hit with the bass, drive the groove, and enhance that raw, powerful feeling that makes the dance floor come alive. Its lyrics are all about the vibe and momentum that unites people on a dance floor.”
Do you guys have any other collaborative releases coming up, and what is coming up in your solo schedules?
Clif: “Yeah, Jil and I already have two more tracks in progress, as our connection in the studio was too good to stop at one. On my solo side, I’ve got a new EP coming soon on Sam Paganini’s JAM, and another release dropping at the end of November via Dubfire’s SCI+TEC.”
Jil: “Yes! Working with Clif was such a blast, we’ve got some exciting things cooking together — this definitely won’t be the last one. On my solo side, I have a few fresh releases and collabs in the pipeline, so stay tuned, as there is some exciting stuff on the way!”
It’s been a pleasure talking with you both, is there anything else you want to add?
Clif: “Big love to everyone supporting the track. Working with Jil was a blast, as we both enjoy good music, good energy, and too many jokes to count. Can’t wait for round two!”
Jil: “A huge thanks to everyone for all the support, and especially for showing love to “Vibe Hard,” as It’s been amazing to see how much energy people are getting from the track. Stay tuned to my socials for news on my upcoming DJ gigs, and I can’t wait to see you on the dance floor J ”
