Clif Jack is a rising star of the techno scene, and his latest release sees him link up with Mauro Picotto to drop a 2025 interpretation of “Komodo (Save A Soul).”
“Komodo (Save A Soul)” is a classic track that Mauro Picotto released in 2000, and its popularity saw it break into the mainstream Top 40 chart in numerous countries.
Many people who know Mauro Picotto’s music, know him for a series that released tracks named after reptiles. Some of those pieces of music include “Lizard” and “Iguana”, but “Komodo (Save A Soul)” was perhaps the most successful of those very popular tracks.
The fact that Clif Jack has been awarded the honour of remixing such a classic, shows how he’s held in high regard as a skilled producer. It’s an expertly executed remix that takes the original’s instantly recognisable melody, and grafts it over some raw techno percussion.
Its breakdown section introduces the original’s vocal with some gritty processing, which makes it fit with the rework’s raw restyling. There is also an acid line that gives it a trippy atmosphere and hypnotic vibe.
Mauro Picotto is an artist that pioneered tech trance, before having a spell as a dedicated techno artist with his Ibiza event Meganite, and record label Alchemy.
Clif Jack is known for his releases on influential techno imprints like Filth on Acid, JAM, and Codex. His music has been played by DJs ranging from Adam Beyer to Richie Hawtin, and this release shows why he is held in such high regard.
