Newly Opened D-EDGE Rio and D-EDGE Sao Paulo Announce First Events of 2024 and Epic Carnival Line-ups
The new venue sits at the heart of the Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro, boasting four floors of music, art, fashion and more.
The brand new D-Edge club made a huge mark as soon as it opened in November last year and now unveils the return of new night Surreal, guests like Black Coffee, Gene on Earth, Amine Edge, Beltran, Prunk, Axel Boman and many more while the sister club in Rio has also got lots lined up for January including its always special series of Carnival events with the likes of Sasha, Priku and East End Dubs.
The new D-Edge sits at the heart of the all-new CCD Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro, which is spread across four floors. This new sister venue to the legendary club of the same name in Sao Paulo opened on November 11th and boasts an area of 2,500 m², over 2,000 metres of LED strips and world class sound systems. The spectacular first event welcomed over 1000 people to witness a DJ set by the Belgian star Charlotte de Witte, accompanied by Brazilians Acid Asian, Ethereal, and Morgan.
Event wise, plenty is lined up for the New Year. On Jan 19 with Bea Ferreti, Eli Iwasa, Joyce Muniz and more, Jan 20 is Bug Pixel & 4fINEST & D-EDGE Rio with LAMACHE, Juliano Serpa & Carol Holland, then Jan 26 is D-Edge Locals, Wooble presents Zegon on Jan 27 and on Feb 3 its Baile de Mascaras D-Edge Rio with Renato Ratier + Guests and more to come.
Meanwhile the original venue D-Edge in Sao Paulo also has a full schedule with the likes of Xzyko (Cl), Flug (Ar), Gene on Earth, The Element, Phonique, The Checkup and DJ Masda all playing across January and February. On February 10th and 11th, it is the always epic carnival specials with Priku, Indira Paganotto, Aretha, Prunk, Sasha and East End Dubs all line-up.
Blending music, art, fashion, education, and design, the all new CCD Cultural Center has two dance floors on two different levels and four levels in all. It is a premium urban space, designed for innovation and culture, in the port area of the city that is open to artistic and strategic cooperation, where the communication of new ideas will facilitate the development and transformation of new products and services for the city.
D-EDGE is located on the third floor and with a capacity for 800 people with a weekly program that dynamically explores different musical styles. The design was taken care of by Muti Randolph, a longtime partner of Renato Ratier since the conception of D-EDGE Campo Grande. He is the visual artist responsible for the LED project of the nightclub in São Paulo. The venue’s sound system was developed by Nelson Stanisci for KW Audio and brings together the most modern technology currently available, reaching an incredible 147 decibels of maximum sound pressure. Its differentiator is the four-way Line Array system, with subwoofers with an 18-inch speaker, mid-bass with a 12-inch speaker, midrange with 8-inch speakers, and highs with 3-inch drivers. This system is manufactured in Italy by the renowned B&C Speakers.
The CCD goes far beyond music, embracing education, art, street culture, inclusion, and diversity to profoundly impact the nightlife and culture of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. It will host exhibitions, lectures, product launches, and panels on topics such as inclusion and sustainability and is housed in a building first constructed in the early 20th century to serve as a merchant’s warehouse in the port area. Inaugurated alongside the Porto Dock and its warehouses, the site was used for the disembarkation of slaves from 1779.
Conceived by DJ, producer, and creative economy entrepreneur Renato Ratier, founder and owner of the D-EDGE brand, and with architectural design by Suzana Margem de Almeida, the CCD blends music, art, fashion, design, and gastronomy on five floors — each representing a different space.
