Releasing a two-part techno EP called All About, yofellas’ new pack of works feature a total of four tracks.
Each part includes two tracks, and it’s a fiery selection utilising hammering drums and powerful synth lines. yofellas are talented producers who were nominated for a Grammy in 2014, when their track “Lost on You” became a national chart hit in numerous countries.
“Lost on You” is a house track, and yofellas have since started producing techno. Their music is produced to an exceptional standard, utilising melody and emotion to express a level of musicality that’s not always present in electronic music.
This release is being put out by Clif Jack’s record label MJA the Vision, and Part 1 includes the tracks “All About” and “No Matter.”
“All About” opens the release with its rolling bassline and sturdy kick drum, and those form the foundation for the dramatic pallet of sounds that add intensity to the dark mood.
“No Matter” is primarily a dark track, with rhythmic melody stabs intertwining with pounding drums. The tranquillity of the breakdown provides an emotional moment of respite, before the percussion is reintroduced with a bang.
“U Me 2” is first up on Part 2, and it’s got an arpeggio bassline with swirling vocal textures forming a thickset groove. Bringing the release to a close, “Yes But Not” is all about the dystopian pads of the atmospheric breakdowns, which are sandwiched between a robust groove with flickers of acid.
