Andy Ash’s When The Sunlight Comes sits in that useful middle space between headphones and a late-room system. The mood is warm and inward-looking, but the drums still know where they’re going. Across the EP, the Liverpudlian producer leans into melody, acid detail and relaxed house movement without sanding off the club function.
The title cut is the most immediate statement: bright synth work, bubbling acid lines and a generous house groove that keeps things open rather than overworked. Sunrise Acid takes a more misted-up route, pairing its emotional pull with a dancefloor shape that feels patient and unfussy. Flabaire’s remix shifts it again, drawing out the electro side while keeping the acid flecks and dreamier edges intact.
Elsewhere, Deep Edge moves at a mid-tempo shuffle with Hammond colour in the mix, while 3 Feet East gives the record its more driving, peak-time angle. It makes for a rounded entry on Departure Lounge Records, a label Brandon Pinel has mostly used for his own Ode to 97 material but has recently opened up to similarly minded producers.
