Eclipse Recordings is a record label with a focus on dark and driving techno, and the label’s new release is a four-track EP by Boom Merchant.

Boom Merchant is an Irish artist currently based in Mexico, and he is making his Eclipse Recordings debut following music on other respected imprints ranging from T78’s Autektone to Sisko Electrofanatik’s Gain.

Known as a dynamic techno producer whose intense style combines influences from multiple genres ranging from breaks to acid, Boom Merchant’s tracks have raw percussion and potent synths shrouded by ominous atmospherics.

Each track on this release has a unique flavour, whether it’s the hip hop influenced vocals of “Everybody,” deep pads of “Mezcal,” or rave sirens of “Scrapyard,” the release has something for all techno tastes.

“Scrapyard” opens the release with its hammering kick drum and gritty percussion, before the pulsating acid bassline and intense sirens fill the groove with tension.

“Mezcal” is second with its looped vocals and swirling percussion rhythms, which form a backbone for the immersive pads with dubby undertones.

“Chronicle” is the EP’s title track, and it has got trippy vocals about creating music, layered over a heavy bassline and raw percussion that create a menacing vibe.

“Everybody” closes the release with shuffling drums and melancholic chords combined with the aggressive vocal tones of a well-known hip hop star.
