We caught up with Frank on EDM Cave to chat about his new remix, plans for 2023 and the craziest moments from his recent shows!

Hey Frank, welcome to EDM Cave! Where are you right now?
Hey guys! Thanks for having me! Happy to be here! I’m sitting in my studio at the moment and preparing everything for my next show.

For those who aren’t familiar with you, can you introduce yourself?
Sure. My name is Frank Klassen and I’m a cellist, producer and songwriter from Germany and I love all kinds of cinematic and euphoric music which you will hear in my productions 🙂

You released a huge remix of Alar & Atlantis’ Agony. Can you tell us what you wanted to achieve with that remix, and what feelings you wanted to evoke in the listener?
To be honest, I can’t tell you exactly what I wanted to achieve with that remix but what I can tell you is that I always try to enjoy producing – in the state of mind it’s some kind of letting go of everything and just expressing how you feel in this moment. The vocals are very strong which I really like and also the break in combination with the cello is immense. I recorded multiple layers of my acoustic cello to give it a body and added strings here and there to make it more epic.
Have a listen and sink in 🙂

How long did it take you to complete the remix?
Normally it takes me weeks to finish a track as I want it to be perfect but this one I think maybe 2 weeks.

What are some goals you have for the new year?
Express not impress… I feel like I want to do more music. I played some great shows in clubs and also big festivals which I hope will happen in 2023 again and additionally to that I want to create more art 🙂

Looking back on 2022, what were some stand out moments for you?
Huh… I think 2022 was one of the craziest years of my entire career… I played at Ushuaia Ibiza, Pacha Ibiza, Parookaville Germany, had a TOP 10 Beatport Song which is called “Alive” and got chosen as one of the FUTURE FOUR by Tomorrowland Radio.

When you are starting out a new track or a remix, do you have any tricks or techniques that help you?
Creativity comes and goes… For me when I sit down and start on a new project I always have some inspirations from other productions of mine where I have ideas but they don’t fit into that actual song so I save them separately and catch up with them on new projects 🙂 That’s most of the time but also sometimes I start blanco with nothing in the DAW.

What is your studio set up like?
I’ve got a lovely little homestudio which I built with my uncle in times of covid. He’s a fantastic carpenter and every absorber you will find in the studio is handmade by him. You will find some impressions on my insta 🙂

What is the craziest thing that has happened during one of your sets?
Hahah good question… hmmm… there were a lot of crazy moments last year… started with people throwing soft toys /cuddly toys on stage after the set to another concert where my audio interface heated up so the music went down, which is absolutely horrible… all the people standing in front of you and waiting haha but luckily after reconnecting – everything worked well.

Outside of music, how do you like to spend your free time?
I love to meditate, think about life and get inspired. I love to travel and enjoy time with my friends and family.
